Let us discuss the List of top PSUs with the highest NPAs
1. State Bank of India: The highest gross NPAs
In seven years, the NPA of SBI has increased from Rs 74,842 Crore in June 2014 to Rs 1.21 Lakh crore in September 2021. A significant growth in the NPA volume has left the financial core of this branch dwindling.
2. Punjab National Bank
This bank has been suffering since it has written off many bad loans. From June 2014 to September 2021, its gross NPA increased from Rs 32,416 Crore to Rs 98,484 crore. There is almost a 300% increase in gross NPA, which is quite an alarming situation for the bank.
3. Canara Bank
Third on the list, the gross NPA of Canara bank has increased from Rs 12,647 Crore to Rs 52,494 crore in these seven years.
4. Bank of Baroda
This PSU has also witnessed a massive increase in gross NPA from Rs 15,879 to Rs 46,382 crore from June 2014 to September 2021.
5. Bank of India
Another name on this list, the Bank of India, is also dwindling in financial burden due to a significant increase in gross NPA from Rs 11,160 to Rs 40,915 crore.
6. Union Bank of India
This PSB has witnessed a significant growth of NPA from Rs 22,199 crore to Rs 77,781 crore within this period.
Many other PSBs have been suffering from the accumulation of NPAs over the years. The current amalgamation of the banks and the cumulative amount of NPAs resulted in a downfall of the current economic condition. The gross NPA of the PSBs summed up to Rs 540,442 crore in September 2021. It was Rs 224,542 Crore in June 2014. Hence, the figure has doubled in just seven years.

Current scenario of PSBs in recovering NPAs
Due to the continuous accumulation of the NPAs, the PSBs are willing to participate in a bank of India e-auction to recover the bad loans quickly. The advent of e-auction portals has been a boon for these banks.
Bidders from all over the country qualify and register in these e-auction portals to participate in a bidding process, get their hands on these assets, and enjoy an excellent bank offer. On the other hand, banks are witnessing faster capital recovery from these NPAs online. Hence, this is the right time to invest in such assets from authentic sources.
